SASH MEM Takes home the Behind the Scenes Award at SASH Star Staff Awards!

The SASH Strategic Medical Education Manager Tina Suttle-Smith won the Behind the Scenes employee of the year at the Annual SASH Staff awards held on the 9th November.

The Behind the Scenes award was hotly contested and Tina was one of 5 nominees in the category, all the nominations were justly deserved and the contenders in the category were nominated from many different areas of the Hospital.

Some of the Post Graduate Medical Education Team were able to support Tina on the night, as was the Director of Medical Education, Dr Sarah Rafferty, and it was great to celebrate the successes of the Trust as as whole, as well as the win for Tina.

Other staff members nominated in the category were:

• Sadansiri Egalla Dewage – Nursing Assistant
• Tracey Tucci – HR business partner, cancer and diagnostics
• Trevor Garcia – HSDU Manager
• Karen Oluwafemi – Ward Assistant

Tina was very please to win the award, modestly stating that ‘it’s not just a win for me, I see this as a win for the whole team as we wouldn’t be able to celebrate the successes we have had if it weren’t for everyone working together‘

The night was a great opportunity to celebrate the successes of the Trust as a whole, other awards presented were for SASH values champion; One team – frontline team of the year; One team – behind the scenes team of the year, Frontline employee of the year, Apprentice of the year. Volunteer of the year, Innovation and service improvement, Improving patient experience and the award for Supporting diversity in the workplace.

The Trust were also very pleased to help Volunteer Mr John Wood celebrate his win as SASH Volunteer of the Year. Mr wood helps run the Coffee shop at the east entrance and remarkably celebrated his 90th birthday a few days after receiving his award!

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust were also very pleased to use the opportunity to celebrate the long service of staff members achieving 20, 25, 30, and even 45 years continued service with the Trust, a remarkable achievement in  itself.
