Work Experience

Work experience

The work experience application process for 2017 is now closed as we have filled all our placements. We shall begin accepting applications for 2018 on 22nd January at which time the application form will be available on this site.

The Trust is committed to offering work experience opportunities to those who are interested
in a career in a healthcare setting.

We aim to provide a taste of working life to those with no previous work experience. We will
give you an idea of what to expect from a healthcare career which may help your decision to
pursue a specific career or field of study.

Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age, however there is no upper age limit and we
are happy to provide opportunities to those considering a change in career or returning to
work after a break.

Work experience is unpaid, with placements typically ranging from 2 days to one week. We
offer opportunities ranging from medical placements on wards and clinics, to administrative
placements in offices at the Trust headquarters.

What we expect from you

Whilst with the Trust we expect all students to share in and display our Trust
values:

Dignity & Respect: we value each person as an individual and will challenge disrespectful
and inappropriate behaviour
One Team: we work together and have a ‘can do’ approach to all that we do recognising
that we all add value with equal worth
Compassion: we respond with humanity and kindness and search for things we can do,
however small; we do not wait to be asked, because we care
Safety & Quality: we take responsibility for our actions, decisions and behaviours in
delivering safe, high quality care

We expect you to be committed to gaining the most from your experience and to complying
with all requests and instructions given to you.

You will be required to sign a confidentiality disclaimer when you commence your placement,
because during your placement with the Trust you may come into contact with information of
a confidential nature. We require you to maintain the confidentiality of such information
related to individual patients or staff members and not to discuss or disclose this during or
